Survivor Support

   Mission:
We honor, support, and give voice
to the brave men and women in uniform who have been raped or sexually assaulted by fellow service members. We seek to fix the military training, investigation and adjudication systems related to sexual violence, systems that often re-victimize survivors by blaming them while failing to prosecute perpetrators.

Julie’s Story

julie
Served in the US Navy, 2002-2008

I was raped four months into my Navy career. The command did nothing. I was called a liar. I was administratively discharged. Last year, I was contacted by email from the rapist. NCIS opened an investigation but then they started digging into my past and wanted me to sign a release to get the records from a sexual assault that happened when I was eleven. That has no relevance on what happened in the Navy. The man who raped me has been promoted to Second Class and still has his career while I’m still trying to put my life back together. I can’t find a job in this country.

When is the government going to actually do something? How many more conferences do they have to have? I should be compensated thousands of dollars for dealing with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, my knee injury, and pain and suffering. I have paid thousands of dollars for counseling, due to the incompetence of the DOD. I am tired of nothing being done about rape in the military and in this country.
