There is a pervasive culture in our military where sexual assault really isn’t taken seriously. So if you have someone assigned as a branch officer for the Sexual Assault Prevention and Response team, who he himself has now been arrested for that behavior, it’s an unfortunate snapshot of just exactly how poorly the military is trying to solve this problem when they put this person in charge of problem solving when he is in fact the problem. And it’s pervasive throughout the chain of command that there is a real lack of interest in solving the sexual assault epidemic in the military.
