San Antonio Express-News: SA sex assault victim testifies before Pentagon panel

The San Antonio Express-News reports:

A Texas National Guard officer told a Pentagon panel Wednesday that she was sexually assaulted while on active duty eight years ago, but no charges were filed against her attacker after she reported the incident.

Maj. Melissa Brown, 31, of San Antonio said she was a young lieutenant at a post in Colorado when an enlisted soldier in her unit assaulted her. They had been drinking, and Brown thinks she unwittingly consumed a date-rape drug.

She said she awoke the next morning with “physical symptoms” of a sexual assault and knew something was wrong.
